EPS & BLUEBIRD STONE

Stone is the original building material, about as ordinary as construction products get. What makes it exceptional isn't the stone itself, but finding the right stone for the right application and then having the nerve to use it in ways that haven't been done before. Every design that pushes the envelope also pushes the upper limits of what the material can physically do, what a fabricator can produce, and what fabrication equipment can handle. EPS has built its team around people who want that kind of work rather than the cookie-cutter alternative, and that only works if the supply side shares the same approach.

Bluebird Stone is that partner. Operating as a quarry fabricator rather than a supplier alone, Bluebird draws from eight quarries and consolidates everything at a central yard, where moss rock, chopped rock, and solid stone are sorted, selected, and fabricated to order. That combination of controlling the raw material and cutting it to spec is what makes genuinely custom stonework possible. The relationship was tested at scale for the first time on the Gathering Place in Tulsa, the largest project either company had taken on and the first significant step into the commercial market for both.

The design intent at the Gathering Place was demanding in a way that never shows up in a takeoff. The finished features had to be extraordinary while still reading as though they had always belonged to the Oklahoma landscape, not imported from another part of the world. Meeting that standard required enormous volumes of natural material to select from, variation broad enough to look natural but controlled enough to look intentional, and precise fabrication of elements that would never be seen once the work was set. Bluebird brought the ambition and the follow-through to deliver it, and the project settled a question that had previously been a matter of hope. When the challenges start to look insurmountable, both companies find a way through.

That shared instinct is the foundation of the partnership today. EPS can only install what is physically delivered to the field, so having a fabrication partner that treats a difficult request as an opportunity rather than a reason to decline changes what EPS can promise a client. When Bluebird succeeds, EPS benefits from the capability, the capacity, and the hard-won knowledge that carries forward into the next project everyone else said couldn't be built.
